HI FLYERS!

Hope everyone has had an enjoyable summer!  We know you now have lots of other things to think about, but please put us on your list.

It's important that all of our members pre-register for the upcoming winter season ONLINE, on our website.  The time to do this starts TODAY, and we will close online registration on Oct. 2nd in order to get our paperwork ready for our opening night, Oct. 4th.

NEW SWIMMERS must click on "create new account" in the left column of our homepage and follow directions for all relative info., including email address, then add swimmer's info.  We ask that all new swimmers bring a COPY of their birth certificate to tryouts, Oct. 4, 5:15PM.

All RETURNING SWIMMERS simply go back into your accounts, click on the swimmer's name and change their "inactive" status to "active," then click submit.  (Instructions are in pdf at bottom of Reg/Fees.)  Also, if you've forgotten your password, go to the left column of the homepage for instructions.

LAST WEEK OF THE SEASON!  "CHALLENGE MEET" tomorrow night - all swimmers warmup at 6:00.  There will be programs available for everyone, listing all the events, heats, and lane assignments for all the swimmers.  All swimmers will receive a ribbon each time they race - ribbons will be handed out after the meet.

Wednesday night will be regular practice times, but coaches are planning some fun things with their groups!

Friday night is "Bring-a-Friend" Fun Night, 6:00-7:30.  Flyers can bring a friend who is not a Flyer!  We ask that everyone contribute some baked goodies we can all share afterwards!

The AWARDS BANQUET is Tues., Aug. 10, at the Gurney Lane pool pavilion.  We'll start cooking about 5:00 - please arrive, with your side dish to share, before 5:30.  Sign up at the table.  Also, tomorrow night is the last night to sign up for bracelets to swim that day in the Gurney Lane pool.  They'll be handed out Wed. & Fri. nights.

Thank you for joining the Flyers this summer.  It sure goes by a lot faster than the winter season!  We hope to see many of you again Oct. 4!  Online registration for the winter season will open Sept. 6.  E-mail reminders and website announcements will be posted durng the off-season.

Congratulations to our Adirondack District Championship swimmers who participated in the annual summer meter meet at Colgate University:
Tawnie Butkowski, Natalie Marshall, Tommy Osika, Aidan and Ben Rowley, Matt Walton, Emma Wuerdeman, and Andrew and Johanna Williams.  They all had personal-best times and they brought home lots of ribbons!  Super efforts from all our swimmers!  We're proud of you!

TO ALL FLYERS HEADED TO RUTLAND TOMORROW:

The Rutland coach says the meet is still a go despite the chance of rain.  We'll leave it up to our families whether or not you will still plan to participate - you won't be upsetting any relays since there are none.  We'll take attendance as soon as we get there.

Be prepared for rain - umbrellas, and if we can get a few families to bring canopies we can put up on the lawn?  They'll stop the meet for thunder/lightening, but they're not expecting that until mid-afternoon, after the meet is done.

This is an added item to the News for this week:

Any swimmers interested in attending the Adirondack District Championships, July 23-25, at Colgate University - the informational sheets are now at the table and all entries are due NEXT Monday, July 12.
This meet does not have any qualifying criteria or times, so anyone can enter.  It is a 50-meter pool.  Swimmers may attend one, two, or all three days.  See your coaches for recommendations.

WE PRACTICE ONE LAST TIME AT GLENS FALLS HS MONDAY NIGHT.  We're back to Qby on Wednesday night, regular practice times.

SWIM MEET AT RUTLAND, SATURDAY MORNING, 8AM WARMUP!
Directions are at the table, or you can meet Coach Paul at the QHS parking lot and follow him.  PARENTS - timing assignments have been made and are posted at the table - please initial by your name.

Lake George Open Water Challenge, Fri. morning, July 16 - swimmers and volunteers sign up at the table!

Wednesday will be the last practice swimmers can try on and order new team suits.

OUR POOL IS CLOSED!  WE WILL BE PRACTICING AT GLENS FALLS HS ALL THIS WEEK AND NEXT MONDAY!  Practice times have not changed.  Yes, we do have practice Friday, July 2, and Mon., July 5.  Don't forget Wednesdays, through the season, White/Blue/Red practice 6:30-7:15, and Silver/Gold/Seniors, 7:15-8:30.

Entry sheets for New Paltz are due Monday night.  Entry sheets for the Rutland meet are due Friday night.  If your swimmer needs entry times, don't wait until Fri. to ask the coach if he or she can time them in practice.  You can use the intrasquad times for entry times - the master list of intrasquad times are at the table.

See Liz if you want to try on the team suit - they've arrived.  Last night to try them on will be next Monday night.  Tell Liz the size you want.  Our logo will be printed on them.

INTRASQUAD MEET TOMORROW NIGHT!  Warmups for all swimmers starts at 6:00.  No regular practices for any of the groups tomorrow night.
PARENTS CLINIC right before the intrasquad meet - 5:30!

EXTRA WEDNESDAY PRACTICES for the White/Blue/Red groups start THIS Wednesday - practice time is 6:30-7:15 (there is a group using the pool before us, please do not go into the pool area too early!).  Silver/Gold/Srs. will start their Wed. practices 15 minutes earlier - 7:15.

IMPORTANT CHANGE!  The Qby elementary school building will be closed next week, through July 6, including the pool!  That means we will be practicing at the Glens Falls High School pool, regular times, NEXT MON., WED., FRI., and MON., July 5th.  (There is no baby pool at GF)

Yellow entry forms and informational sheets for the swim meets at Rutland and New Paltz will be at the table.  Entries for Rutland are due by July 2nd.  Entries for New Paltz are due by NEXT Monday.

All parents of swimmers who were not with us over this past winter season, must sign USA registration forms THIS WEEK!  See Liz.
